Massahide Sakamoto
Massahide Sakamoto pitched for the Brazilian national team that tied for the Gold in the 1959 South American Championship. In the 1959 Pan American Games, he was again with Brazil. The Chicago Tribune carried box scores for four of Brazil's six games. Sakamoto appeared in two of those. Relieving Huguiyoski Sugeta with no outs in the first against Team USA, he went the rest of the distance, allowing four runs (three earned) after Sugeta surrendered five in 0 IP. He allowed 11 hits, 2 walks and 8 runs (8 earned) in 8 innings, fanning 6, in a loss to Mexico. He is presumably the same as Masahide Sakamoto who is listed with Brazil in the 1963 Pan American Games or Masahide Sakamo (rest illegible) on their team that finished second in the 1963 South American Championship.
