Biographical Information[edit]
Masami Yoshikawa has pitched and umpired in Nippon Pro Baseball. The Crown Lighter Lions picked him in the 5th round of the 1977 NPB draft and released him after the 1981 campaign without having made it out of ni-gun. He was signed by the Kintetsu Buffaloes that off-season. In 1983, he made it to NPB, going 1-1 with a 4.03 ERA in 51 1/3 IP and 23 games for Kintetsu. He was 0-4 with a 4.68 ERA in 16 games in 1984 and gave up 4 runs in 4 1/3 innings in 1985. He spent his last years back in the minors and retired at the end of 1988. Overall, Yoshikawa had gone 1-5 with a 4.48 ERA in 39 games in NPB.
Yoshikawa became a Pacific League umpire after his playing career ended. He will work the 2009 World Baseball Classic.
