Biographical Information[edit]

Martin Zelenka has played in the Extraliga and for the Czech national team.

Zelenka debuted for the 2016 Tempo Titans Praha at age 15, hitting .122/.185/.143. [1] He was 2 for 6 with a walk, two runs and a RBI in the 2016 European Junior Championship as a backup for Czechia. [2] He batted .145/.230/.164 for the 2017 Titans and .206/.250/.235 in 2018. [3]

In the 2018 European Junior Championship, he batted .167/.348/.167. [4] He hit .264/.343/.363 for the Titans in 2019, then .313/.378/.522 with 15 RBI in 18 games in 2020. He tied Daniel Vavruša for 10th in total bases (35), tied for 4th with 3 homers and tied for 9th with 7 extra-base hits in a COVID-19-shortened season. [5]

Martin hit .333/.458/.571 for Pitt Community College in 2020-2021. [6] As a result, he had limited time for the Titans, going 8 for 28 with 3 homers, 4 walks and 11 RBI. [7] In the 2021 U-23 European Championship, he hit .286/.353/.357 with four runs in five games. [8] In the 2021 European Championship, he backed up veteran Petr Čech at catcher. He got into two games. Against the champion Dutch national team, he replaced Čech late in a 11-1 loss and grounded out against Wendell Floranus his first at-bat. His other game, he started against Croatia, with Čech taking 1B. He grounded out against Borna Strelec his first at-bat, then grounded out against Nino Kruhek to score Marek Chlup. His first hit came his next time up, singling off Andrew Jones to bring in one run, then he came around to score. His last time up, he hit into an error and scored again for a four-runs-produced day. He had 10 putouts, 2 assists and no errors while allowing two steals in two tries. [9] He batted .188/.278/.188 for the Czechs in the 2021 U-23 Baseball World Cup but threw out 4 of 7 who tried to steal. [10]
