Biographical Information[edit]

Martín Bojorge was an Olympic pitcher.

Bojorge allowed 8 runs in 9 1/3 IP for the Nicaraguan national team in the 1995 Intercontinental Cup for the team's worst ERA. He helped them win Silver at the 1995 Pan American Games. In the 1996 Olympics, the 30-year-old again had Nicaragua's highest ERA, giving up 5 runs in 6 2/3 IP after relieving Fredy Corea in a 13-6 loss to Japan; he was replaced by Luis Miranda. In the 1997 Intercontinental Cup, the right-hander pitched just two innings and allowed five hits and two unearned runs in three outings. He was on the Nicaraguan team that won Silver at the 1997 Central American Games. He struck out four in three shutout innings in the 1998 Haarlem Baseball Week. In the 1998 Baseball World Cup, the veteran was in a familiar position as Nicaragua's least-effective hurler (1-1, 14.00, 18 H, 7 BB in 9 IP). The rest of the staff had a 3.67 ERA and Nicaragua got a Bronze Medal.

Back in Nicaragua, Bojorge was much better. He won 20 games for Rivas in 1992, the 9th pitcher to the 20-win level. Through 2008, he was among Nicaragua's amateur league career leaders in starts (326, 2nd to Asdrudes Flores), wins (153, 3rd behind Flores and Julio Espinoza), innings (2,188 1/3, 1st) and strikeouts (1,209, 3rd behind Espinoza and Flores).
