Fredy Corea pitched for the Nicaraguan national team a couple times.
Corea was 1-0 with a 2.12 ERA in the 1995 Intercontinental Cup as the top Nicaraguan starter. In the 1996 Olympics, he was 1-2 with a 6.57 ERA; only Eduardo Bojorge had a worse ERA for Nicaragua and only Asdrudes Flores had as many defeats. He did fan 15 in 12 1/3 innings. Corea beat the Italian national team but lost to both Cuba and Japan (5 R in 1/3 of an inning, 3 BB, 2 homers as a starter).
Corea was 70-47 in the Nicaraguan amateur league through 2008, at which point he was still an active hurler.
