Luis Miranda pitched for the Nicaraguan national team in the mid-1990s.
Miranda had a 3.27 ERA in four outings in the 1993 Intercontinental Cup, when Nicaragua placed fourth. In the 1994 Baseball World Cup, he had a save and a 8.38 ERA, allowing a .357 average. He had the second-worst ERA on the fourth-place squad. Nicaragua again was 4th in the 1995 Intercontinental Cup; the righty was 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA. He tied Orlando Hernández, José Ibar and Naoto Addachi for second in the Cup in wins, one behind Omar Luis. On February 6, he threw Nicaragua's 43rd no-hitter (since 1970). Nicaragua won the Silver Medal with Miranda in the 1995 Pan American Games.
He allowed eight hits in 18 at-bats in the 1996 Olympics yet somehow escaped with a 4.91 ERA. His last appearance was in the semifinals, when he allowed two runs and seven of those eight hits in 2 1/3 IP in relief of Asdrudes Flores in a 8-1 loss to Cuba.
