Biographical Information[edit]

María Rincón has pitched regularly for the Venezuelan women's national team.

In the 2014 Women's Baseball World Cup, her first event, she was hit hard at 0-2, 17.18; Leslie Gomez had the team's next-highest ERA at 10.50. She lost to champion Japan and Taiwan. She tied Loes Asmus and teammate Giddelys Cumana for the most losses in the Cup. [1] She was huge in a 10-9 Venezuelan win over Puerto Rico in the 2015 Pan American Games to send Venezuela to the medal round (they got Venezuela). She turned in five shutout innings (3 H, 2 K) but did not get the decision. Only Marti Sementelli and Autumn Mills had more scoreless frames entering the medal round. [2]

The right-hander was Venezuela's most-used hurler in the 2016 Women's Baseball World Cup, with four appearances. She allowed only one run in three in the team's loss to Japan, saved Orianny Hernandez's win over Australia and beat Taiwan in the Bronze Medal Game, with 2 runs in 6 2/3 IP. She tied Jacinda Barclay, Rak-yung Kim, Nabila Nawaz and MVP Ayami Sato for 8th in the Cup in games pitched. [3] The veteran was not as sharp in the 2018 Women's Baseball World Cup with 7 hits and 3 runs in 3 innings against Taiwan and Puerto Rico. [4]
