Biographical Information[edit]

Luis Lopez was a utility infielder for 11 major league seasons, never getting more that 266 at-bats in any season. He was a low average hitter with limited power - he batted .241 and slugged .343 in 1,620 at bats - he earned his keep with good defense at second base, third base and shortstop. He was signed by the San Diego Padres as an amateur free agent out of Puerto Rico and spent three seasons with them, three with the New York Mets, two and a half with the Milwaukee Brewers, one and half with the Baltimore Orioles and one with the Cincinnati Reds.

Following his playing career, Lopez joined the coaching ranks and has worked for several organizations.

In addition, Lopez worked as a bench coach for the Criollos de Caguas in the Roberto Clemente Professional Baseball League during the 2019/2020 season.
