Biographical Information

Infielder Luis Bolivar was signed by the San Diego Padres in 1999 and played that summer and the next in the Dominican Summer League. He was released by the Padres in 2001 and did not play pro ball that year.

Bolivar was signed by the Cincinnati Reds after the 2001 season and the next season played for the GCL Reds, hitting .306 with 4 home runs, 24 RBIs, and 13 stolen bases in 50 games. He began the 2003 campaign with the Dayton Dragons and hit .230 in 57 games there before being sent to the Billings Mustangs in July. With Billings, he batted .349 with 9 homers, 42 RBIs, and 12 stolen bases and earned a spot on the Pioneer League All-Star team. He was back with Dayton in 2004 and hit .234 with 11 home runs, 52 RBIs, and 31 stolen bases while making the Midwest League All-Star team.

Bolivar played for the Sarasota Reds in 2005 and hit .243 with 17 stolen bases in 103 appearances. He split the next summer between Sarasota and the Chattanooga Lookouts, going .265 with 5 homers, 30 RBIs, and 14 steals in 120 games between the two clubs. He spent most of 2007 at AA Chattanooga, hitting .297 with 3 home runs, 42 RBIs, and 13 stolen bases in 109 games before being promoted to the Louisville Bats late in the season. In 13 games with the Bats, he hit .262 and swiped 3 bases.

Bolivar became a coach with the AZL Reds in 2013 and Dayton Dragons in 2014-2016. He then became a manager with Dayton in 2017.
