Biographical Information[edit]
Lucas Stalman has played for the Argentinian national team.
Stalman hit .512 as a high school freshman, .475 as a sophomore, .493 as a junior and .541 as a senior. [1] He also played for Argentina in the 2014 U-15 Baseball World Cup, hitting .385/.485/.538 with 11 runs in 8 games as their regular shortstop; he was 1-0 with a 8.00 ERA, beating Hong Kong. He was 6-for-6 in steals, tying for 7th in the event. He tied for third in walks issued (14). [2] His father Pablo was born in Argentina, hence his playing for Argentina. [3]
He hit .246/.375/.354 as a college freshman, .136/.259/.136 in his sophomore season (shortened by the COVID-19 pandemic), .250/.250/.625 in limited action as a junior and .146/.276/.236 as a senior. He was the only US-born player on Argentina's team in the 2022 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers (some teams like Britain had numerous Americans while many had at least once). In the opener, he replaced Julian Pedrouzo in left late and was retired by Pakistan's Muhammad Zohaib. His single off New Zealand's Ryota Okumoto tied it at one in the 7th by driving in Lucas Nakandakare; he came around to score on a bases-loaded walk to Eduardo Zurbriggen. In their last game, a loss to Nicaragua, he singled, stole and scored and later took Leo Crawford deep. He finished at .333/.333/.583 with three runs and two RBI in four games, plus at least two outfield assists. He tied Exequiel Talevi and Jacinto Cipriota for the team lead in hits (4), was second in runs (one behind Talevi), had their lone homer, was third in RBI (after Zurbriggen and Talevi), tied for the most steals and only Talevi had a better OPS.
