Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Liván Soto was originally signed as an international amateur free agent by the Atlanta Braves on July 2, 2016 but was one of 12 prospects in the organization to be delared free agents by the Commissioner's office in November 2017 after the Braves were found guilty of violating international signing rules, the result of a probe that got GM John Coppolella permanently banned from baseball. Soto then signed with the Los Angeles Angels of December 16th of that year.

He was the youngest player to be invited to attend the Angels' major league spring training in 2021, and one of only two participants to be born in the 2000s. He made his major league debut at the end of the 2022 season, entering a game against the Seattle Mariners on September 17th as a pinch-runner for 2B Michael Stefanic in the 5th inning, then playing the remainder of the game at shortstop with Luis Rengifo moving over from SS to 2B. He made an out in his only at-bat in his team's 2-1 win, grounding out against Matt Brash in the 8th.
