Biographical Information[edit]

Leodán Reyes has pitched in Cuba and for the Cuban national team.

Reyes debuted in the Cuban Serie Nacional in 2020-2021, allowing three baserunners and one run in one inning. He was 1-4 with a save and a 6.55 ERA the next season but allowed three runs while retiring no one in the postseason. [1] The B-R register incorrectly lists this as being in 2022-2023 rather than 2021-2022. He pitched for the Tabacaleros de Pinar del Río, Artemisa & Isla de la Juventud in the 2022 Cuban Elite League, going 1-0 with a save and a 1.04 ERA.

He was 0-1 with two saves in the 2022 U-23 Baseball World Cup, allowing only one unearned run in 7 2/3 IP. [2] During the 2022 Caribbean Baseball Cup, he was 1-0 with a 5.68 ERA, beating Gio Tomlins and the Bahamas. Only Nelmerson Angela and Freddie Cabrera had more strikeouts in the event than his 8. [3] He then defected to the Dominican Republic, hoping to sign with a MLB team. He had interest from the Washington Nationals in 2024 but he failed the physical; rumors were that there were concerns about the ligament in his elbow. [4]

Returning to Cuba, he was 1-0 with two saves and a 3.65 ERA for the 2024 Industriales and was 0-1 with a save and a 6.52 ERA in the postseason. [5] He then made Cuba's team for the 2024 Premier 12, debuting against the Dominican national team. He relieved Yoennis Yera with a 1-0 lead in the 7th and retired #3 hitter Andretty Cordero and cleanup man Rainer Nuñez, the latter via strikeout. Things unraveled, though, when he walked Pedro González and Ricardo Céspedes, the latter in a 15-pitch battle. Pinch-hitter Arismendy Alcántara singled in one run and an error led to another, saddling him with the loss. Geonel Gutiérrez took over. [6]
