Leinier was 3-4 with six saves and a 4.46 ERA for Mayabeque in 2012-2013 to tie Raicel Iglesias and Julio Montesinos for sixth in saves. At the half, the league contracted to eight teams for the second half (under Cuba's new split-season format) and he was picked by Pinar del Rio but struggled for them (0-1, 6.62). In 2013-2014, he went 4-3 with 10 saves and a 3.76 ERA but a .340 opponent average for Mayabeque. At the half, he was picked by Holguín and did well (3 Sv, 1 R in 10 IP) to bring his career record to 19-19, 4.32 with 35 saves in 157 games. For the 2013-2014 season, he tied Fuentes, Carlos Juan Viera and Hector Mendoza for second in saves, a distant 8 behind leader José A. García. In the Cuban All-Star Game for 2014, he relieved Julio Martinez for the Occidente with a 3-3 tie in the 8th. He retired only one batter and allowed an Alfredo Despaigne double; Despaigne scored the winning run on a wild pitch by Mendoza to hand Leinier the loss.
