Biographical Information[edit]
Outfielder Sleepy Bill Johnson played in three major leagues but had most of his success in the waning days of the American Association.
As a regular outfielder for the Baltimore Orioles in 1891, he hit .271 with 14 triples. Teammates included George Van Haltren and an 18-year-old John McGraw.
He is not to be confused with two other major leaguers of the same name, Bill Johnson and Bill Johnson, and another Lefty Johnson, whose real first name was James.
