Biographical Information

Randolph "Lefty" Bowe was a hard-throwing southpaw with control issues and was primarily a one-pitch pitcher. The big lefty debuted with the Kansas City Monarchs in 1938. He was 1-0 for the 1939 Chicago American Giants while battling a leg injury. He started 1940 4-2 for Chicago and was 4th in voting for the 1940 East-West Game (61,180) behind Hilton Smith, Buck Leonard and Donald Reeves. He became disgruntled with how Chicago treated its players, told that the players would have to foot the bill for their new uniforms and not being guaranteed compensation for the East-West Game. Due to such frustrations, he jumped ship before the East-West Game, signing with the independent Indianapolis Clowns and finishing his career with them.
