Biographical Information[edit]

Leandro Martínez has pitched in the Cuban Serie Nacional.

He debuted in 2005-2006, going 2-1 with a save and a 3.26 ERA for Granma. In 2006-2007, he went 7-7 with 7 saves and a 3.16 ERA. After that, his production slipped for a couple seasons. In 2007-2008, the lefty was 3-5 with five saves, a 4.69 ERA and .310 opponent average. During 2008-2009, he faded to 4-3, 7.83 with a .370 average allowed and tied for third in the league with 17 home runs allowed.

After his rough 08-09 campaign, he did not appear in the Serie Nacional. In 2011-2012, he returned in excellent form, going 11-4 with a save and a 2.62 ERA, walking only 22 in 113 1/3 IP. He tied Angel Peña for fifth in the league in winning percentage and was 6th in ERA (between Odrisamer Despaigne and Yadier Pedroso. He was named the league's All-Star left-hander.

He pitched 1 2/3 IP for Cuba in the 2012 Haarlem Baseball Week, with one walk and three strikeouts. He was put on Cuba's preliminary roster for the 2013 World Baseball Classic.
