Biographical Information[edit]

Starting pitcher Kyle Ryan has played in the Detroit Tigers minor league system since 2010. He was taken by the club in the 12th round of the 2010 amateur draft, one pick after outfielder Stefen Romero.

The hurler had his first 10-win season in 2013, going 12-7 with a 3.17 ERA in 24 starts for the Double-A Lakeland Flying Tigers. He was named to the Florida State League Mid- and Post-Season All-Star team that season.

He reached Triple-A for the first time in 2014 and made his debut with the Tigers on August 30th, starting the second game of a doubleheader against the Chicago White Sox. He was an 8-3 winner, giving up no runs on 5 hits in 6 innings. His opponent in that game, Chris Bassitt, was also making his major league debut, but he did not pitch anywhere as well as Kyle.
