Biographical Information[edit]

Kyle Molnar has pitched in the minors and for the Israeli national team.

Molnar had a 5-3, 1.44 record and hit .288 as a freshman then 8-3, 2.25 and .348 as a sophomore followed by 10-2, 1.81 and .320 as a junior. His senior year, he was 7-4 with a 1.57 ERA. [1] He was on the US junior national team in 2014. [2] He threw one-hitters against Mexico and Panama in the U18 COPABE Championship. [3] The St. Louis Cardinals chose him in the 25th round of the 2015 amateur draft but he did not sign.

He was 5-5 with a 3.32 ERA as a college freshman but missed 2017 due to injury. [4] He only pitched one shutout inning in 2018 and did not play in '19. Despite that injury track record, he was chosen by the Los Angeles Angels in the 26th round of the 2019 amateur draft and signed for a $122,500 bonus. The scout was Ben Diggins. [5] He split the summer between the Tri-City Dust Devils (2-1, Sv, 3.28 in 14 G) and Rocket City Trash Pandas (0-2, Sv, 13.21 ERA, 2.62 WHIP in 11 G). In '22, he pitched for the Dust Devils (4-0, Sv, 2.61 in 22 G) and the Inland Empire 66ers (1-0, 1.42 in 6 G).

Joining Israel for the 2023 World Baseball Classic, he was one of 18 hurlers they utilized but had the highest ERA at 40.50, 4.50 worse than Colton Gordon, the next-highest. He relieved Rob Kaminsky in the 5th with a 3-0 deficit and one out against the Dominican national team. He allowed a single to Eloy Jiménez then retired Ketel Marte and Jeremy Peña. The 6th did not go as well as Jeimer Candelario doubled, Gary Sánchez walked and Juan Soto hit into a Matt Mervis error. Julio Rodríguez doubled in a pair then Bubby Rossman relieved and let both inherited runners score. [6]
