Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Kyle Abbott was signed as a 1st round pick in the 1989 amateur draft by the California Angels and scout Rick Ingalls. He is best known for a disastrous 1992 season with the Philadelphia Phillies going 1-14, 5.13 over 31 games and 19 starts. This was not what the Phils had hoped for in acquiring Kyle (and future GM Ruben Amaro Jr.) for Von Hayes in the prior offseason. Four years, two continents and several organization later, he gave up 9 earned runs in 4 innings back with the Angels, finishing his farewell season with a 20.25 ERA. He wore numbers 47, 39, and 59. His father, Larry, played minor league ball.
