Kuo-Yu Lin pitched in the CPBL for 5 years.
Lin represented Taiwan in the 2013 World Port Tournament but walked all three batters he faced. He was drafted by the Lamigo Monkeys in the sixth round of the 2013 CPBL Draft, and he had a 4.84 ERA in 37 appearances in his rookie year. His ERA was 4.95 in 40 appearances in 2015, and he was 10th in appearances (between Po-Yu Lin and Kuo-Hua Lo. In the 2015 Taiwan Series, Lin allowed a run in 1 2/3 innings combined in 3 games, and he won his first title as the Monkeys beat the CTBC Brothers in 7 games.
The Hualien native struggled in 2016 as his ERA was 12.18 in 13 games, then he recorded a 6.04 ERA in 21 appearances in 2017. He relieved Po-Yu Lin in the 9th inning of Game 1, but he gave up three straight hits then Cheng-Hao Cheng replaced him. The Monkeys beat the Brothers again, and Lin won his second title. He then bounced back in 2018, having a 3.32 ERA in 43 games with 12 holds. He was 9th in holds, between Chi-Hung Cheng and Hung-Chih Kuo. In the 2018 Taiwan Series Game 1, he relieved Tzu-Peng Huang in the 9th inning, but he gave up a walk to Chih-Chieh Su and a single to Fu-Lin Kuo then Yu-Hsun Chen replaced him. The Monkeys beat the Uni-President Lions in 5 games. However, Lin suffered from a right shoulder injury after the series, and he never pitched another game before he announced his retirement in 2021.
Overall, Lin was 9-4 with a 5.44 ERA, notched 33 holds in 159 appearances, struck out 112 and pitched 162 innings in 5 seasons in the CPBL. His repertoire included a fastball (peak 90.7 mph), slider and changeup.
