Biographical Information[edit]

Kuang-Chi Huang pitched for the Taiwanese national team and in the CPBL. His brother is Taiwanese national team player Ming-Yi Huang.

Huang represented Taiwan in the 1982 Amateur World Series. The Brother Elephants signed him when the league was founded in 1990. Huang is the first pitcher ever to relieve in the CPBL, and collected the first strikeout in the league by whiffing Chi-Chen Tseng. The Taichung native started 12 games in his rookie year with a 4.28 ERA, and was selected into the All-Star Game for the first and the only time in his career. The Elephants turned Huang into a full-time relief pitcher in the next year, and he recorded a 4.35 ERA in 25 appearances in 1991. Huang is the most stable middle-inning reliever in his era, he pitched 26 games average from 1991 to 1996, and his ERA never rose to 5 or less than 3. His best year was 1995, as he pitched a career-high 32 games with a elite 3.12 ERA. Huang also pitched in the 1993 Taiwan Series, and he had a 2.79 ERA in 9 2/3 innings to help the Brothers beat the Sinon Bulls. When the 37-year-old Huang recorded a 5.31 ERA in 1997, the veteran decided to retire, and turned into a coach. Huang worked as a part-time pitching coach from 1995 to 1997, and served as pitching coach for the Bulls in the minors until 2001.

His repertoire featured a fastball that peaked at 86 mph, a slider, a forkball, a curveball and a sinker.

Overall, Huang was 23-20 with a 4.28 ERA, struck out 341 and pitched 544 1/3 innings in 198 appearances in 8 seasons in the CPBL.
