Biographical Information[edit]
Kota Suda was a first-round pick in 2010.
Suda pitched for JFE Higashi Nihon in the industrial leagues after college. The Yokohama BayStars took him with their first pick of the 2010 NPB draft, after their bid for Tatsuya Oishi failed. He then made the Japanese national team for the 2010 Asian Games, combining on a no-hitter against Thailand in the opener. He made his NPB debut on April 22, 2011. Suda allowed two runs in six innings, with 7 hits, 3 walks and 3 strikeouts against the Hanshin Tigers. He was relieved by Clayton Hamilton and wound up with a no-decision in a 4-3 loss.
Suda's repertoire includes a slider, cutter, curveball, sinker and fastball (peak 92 mph).
