Biographical Information[edit]
Kota Ishibashi has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Ishibashi was drafted by the Chunichi Dragons in the fourth round of the 2018 NPB draft[1] He spent his first three seasons primarily in the NPB Farm Leagues, only playing 23 games combined with the big club. Ishibashi was the backup catcher behind Takuya Kinoshita in 2022, and he hit .179/.203/.284 in 31 games.
Since Kinoshita suffered a right hand fracture in 2023, Ishibashi gained more chances, and he hit .257/.268/.429 with 2 homers.[2] He then made it onto Japan's roster for the 2023 Asia Professional Baseball Championship. He only appeared against Australia, and he was 1-for-3, with a RBI single off Brodie Cooper-Vassalakis. Japan beat South Korea and won Gold. [3]
