Biographical Information

Second baseman Kinji Uno played in Nippon Professional Baseball from 1936 to 1938 and from 1942 to 1943. He played for Hankyu (1936-1938, 1942), Taiyo (1942) and Nishitetsu (1943).

When the Japanese Professional Baseball League formed in the spring of 1936, he hit .288/.388/.370 in 73 at-bats. He was the league's first doubles leader (6) and he also was tied for 7th in walks (12), 3rd in RBI (16, two behind Teruhiko Takahashi and one behind Masaru Kageura) and tied Mitsuo Kitaura for second with 10 strikeouts. He slumped to .198/.264/.225 in his fall performance. He still tied Toshio Kojima for 5th in RBI (18).

Uno hit .217/.280/.255 in the spring of 1937 and only .091/.130/.102 in the fall. He batted .210/.291/.210 in spring 1938 and .193/.248/.259 in the fall. In 1942, he hit .104/.140/.104 in 22 games for Taiyo and was 1 for 4 with 2 walks and 3 runs for Hankyu. He batted .147/.194/.191 in 1943.

For his career, he slashed .189/.255/.224 with one home run and 70 RBI in 243 games.
