Biographical Information[edit]

Kila Ka'aihue was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in 15th round of the 2002 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Eric Tokunaga and made his pro debut with the GCL Royals that summer.

The 2008 Texas League Player of the Year, he was called up to the Royals on September 2, 2008. He made his first major league appearance as a pinch runner for Jose Guillen on September 4th. He stayed in the game as the DH but failed to get an at bat.

An OBP machine in the minors, Ka'aihue was traded to the Oakland A's for Ethan Hollingsworth on September 27, 2011.

His brother, Kala Ka'aihue, played in the Atlanta Braves system. His father, also called Kala Ka'aihue, is a former minor leaguer as well.
