Biographical Information[edit]

Third baseman Kevin Padlo was drafted in the 5th round in the 2014 amateur draft by the Colorado Rockies, out of a high school in California. After signing, he was assigned to the Grand Junction Rockies of the Pioneer League to begin his pro career and hit a solid .300/.421/.594, with 15 doubles, 8 homers and 44 RBIs in 48 games. He started the 2015 season with the Boise Hawks of the Northwest League and continued to do well, with a .294 average in 70 games. It earned him a late-season promotion to the Asheville Tourists of the South Atlantic League, where he found the going a lot tougher, hitting only .145 in 27 games. He was however a good 3 1/2 years younger than the average player in the circuit and experience his first taste of full-season ball. Overall, his batting line for the year was .257/.372/.447, with 22 doubles and 9 homers, 55 runs scored and 53 RBIs in 97 games. He also displayed outstanding speed, with 35 steals in 41 attempts. He was named a mid-season and postseason All-Star in the Northwest League.

On January 28, 2016, he was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays along with major league OF Corey Dickerson in return for Ps Jake McGee and German Marquez.

He made his major league debut more than five years after the trade, on April 6, 2021. He was still with the Rays.
