Biographical Information[edit]

Keun-young Yoon pitched in the Korea Baseball Organization and for the South Korea national baseball team.

Yoon was drafted by the Hanwha Eagles in the first round of the 2005 KBO draft, and he had a 5.40 ERA in 51 games with 4 holds in his first season. He spent his 2006 season in the minors, and he allowed 9 runs in 7 innings in 2007. Yoon missed the next two seasons due to military service, and he had a 7.16 ERA in 25 appearances in 2010. He improved to a 3.86 ERA in 23 games in 2011, then he had a 3.72 ERA in 18 relief outings in 2012. Yoon then represented Korea in the 2012 Asian Championship. In his only appearance, Yoon pitched 4 2/3 shutout innings with 4 strikeouts against the Philippines, and he got the win over Jon-Jon Robles. Korea won Bronze in the event.

The Daejeon native notched 5 holds in 2013, but his ERA rose to 6.25 in 49 appearances. He then had a 7.16 ERA in 36 games in 2014, and the KT Wiz selected him in the expansion draft. Yoon went 1-4 with a 5.63 ERA in 2015, and he missed most of the 2016 season due to a shoulder injury. He had a 3.50 ERA in 12 games in 2017, then he surrendered 19 runs in 16 2/3 innings in 2018. Yoon stayed in minors for the entire 2019 season, and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Yoon was 8-17 with a 5.86 ERA, struck out 202 in 319 1/3 innings in 11 seasons in the KBO.
