Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Kent Blasingame played in the minors for three years then became a scout. He is the grandson of Walker Cooper and son of Don Blasingame.

Kent made his pro debut with the independent St. Paul Saints in 1993, hitting .203/.250/.228 in 36 games. In 1994, he moved to Organized Baseball and batted .253/.317/.365 with 7 triples, 61 runs and 18 steals in 34 tries for the Clearwater Phillies. He tied Melvin Mora for 5th in the Florida State League in times caught stealing. The next year, Blasingame produced at a .205/.320/.262 clip in 86 games as a backup outfielder for the Reading Phillies. Overall, he had hit .233/.310/.318 in 228 games as a pro.

Blasingame later served as the Asian scout for the Colorado Rockies, signing Ching-Lung Lo, and as a US scout for the Softbank Hawks of Japan.
