Biographical Information[edit]
Infielder Kenichi Nakano played in Nippon Pro Baseball and for the Japanese national team.
Nakano won the batting title of the Tokyo Big6 Baseball League in 1955 autumn with a .383 batting average. [1] He played for Japan when they won the 1955 Asian Championship, their first Asian Championship title. [2] He played for the Kumagai Gumi in the industrial league after college. The Tokyo native turned pro in 1960 with the Mainichi Orions. However, he didn't play well in the NPB, only hitting .161/.217/.202with a homer. He even broke the NPB record for 42 consecutive at-bats without a hit. Nakano then announced his retirement after this season, and returned to the industrial league.
