Biographical Information[edit]

Ken Winkle pitched in the minor leagues and Taiwan.

Winkle was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 15th round of the 1994 Amateur Draft, and he went 4-4 with a 3.15 ERA for the Eugene Emeralds in his first season. He struggled in 1995 as his ERA was 9.49 for the Springfield Sultans and 10.54 for the Wilmington Blue Rocks, then the Royals released him. Winkle then went 2-1 with a 4.20 ERA for the Abilene Prairie Dogs in '95, and he notched 27 saves with a solid 1.42 ERA in 44 relief outings in 1996. The Kaoping Fala of Taiwan signed him in 1997, and he went 6-6 with 6 saves and a 2.50 ERA in 30 appearances. He stayed in Taiwan in the next season, and he went to another league. However, Winkle struggled with the Uni-President Lions in 1998 as his ERA was 4.93 in 17 games, then he was released in July.

After leaving Taiwan, Winkle signed with the Sioux Falls Canaries, and he had a 5-2 record with a 5.70 ERA there. He then had a 5.76 ERA in 15 games for the Lafayette Bullfrogs in 1999, and his ERA was 4.94 in 19 games for the Tri-City Posse. He only pitched 3 games in 2000, then he recorded a 10.38 ERA in 5 games for the Long Beach Breakers in 2002. Winkle also recorded a 3.95 ERA in 12 games for the Alexandria Aces, and his ERA was 7.58 in 12 appearances with the Fort Worth Cats. He had a 9.75 ERA in 6 games with the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings in 2003, then he announced his retirement.
