Biographical information

Pitcher Ken Bracey played nine seasons (1956-1964) in the minors, reaching AA the last two years. He spent 1956 in the New York Yankees organization, and the rest of his career in the New York Giants/San Francisco Giants organization. He was mostly a relief pitcher, appearing in 331 games and starting only 18 of them. Overall, he went 52-40 with a 3.51 ERA. Perhaps his best season was in 1961, with the Springfield Giants. That year, he went 9-5 with a 2.85 ERA in 53 relief appearances.

Since his playing career ended, Bracey has spent time as a minor league manager and a scout. He had been a member of the San Diego Padres organization for their entire existence, except for 1987 to 1990, when he was a Milwaukee Brewers scout. Bracey managed the 1970 Lodi Padres and 1974 Alexandria Aces, and was a scout for the Padres from 1969 to 1986. In 2008 he was "Special Assistant to the General Manager" for the Padres. For 2010, he was hired to be Special Assistant to the General Manager for the Dodgers a job he held until passing away from pancreatic cancer at age 80 in late 2017.
