Biographical Information[edit]

Keith Van De Keere pitched for Team Canada for several years. His son Devery Van De Keere played in the minors. [1]

Keith debuted for Canada in the 1974 Amateur World Series. [2] In 1975, he was 4-4 with a 2.55 ERA for the Barrhead Blue Jays and also hit .333; he was third in the Alberta Major League in ERA and sixth in average. [3] While he played for Barrhead at least through the rest of the 1970s, no stats are available for his other seasons there. He was back with Canada for the 1977 Intercontinental Cup. [4]

In the 1978 Amateur World Series, he was Canada's workhorse, going 0-3 with a 3.15 ERA. He led the team in IP (20, 4 2/3 ahead of Bob Bridges) and strikeouts (15, two ahead of Rod Heisler). He tied Brian Wonnacott and Armando Gaxiola for the event lead in losses, due to Canada's weak offense. [5] He was with Canada for the 1979 Pan American Games. [6] He remained with them for the 1980 Amateur World Series and 1981 Intercontinental Cup. [7]

He later was a coach for Baseball Alberta and a teacher (primarily mathematics) for 32 years. [8]
