Biographical Information[edit]
Katsuhisa Hino played for the Japanese national team.
Hino was taken by the Hanshin Tigers in the 5th round of the 1969 NPB draft but opted for college. He made a Best Nine at shortstop in college. The Chunichi Dragons took him in the 6th round of the 1973 NPB draft but he again did not sign. He then played in the industrial leagues, winning two Best Nine nods at third base. He also was a regular for the Japanese national team, playing in the 1975 Intercontinental Cup (Silver Medal), 1976 Amateur World Series (Bronze), 1977 Intercontinental Cup (Bronze), 1978 Amateur World Series and 1979 Intercontinental Cup (Silver). In the '78 Series, he hit .316/.395/.447 with 10 RBI in 10 games, tying Kyoichi Kikuchi for 2nd on the team behind the great Hiromitsu Ochiai. He fielded .971 at the hot corner.
