Biographical Information[edit]

Julio Vásquez was on the Peruvian national team in the 2011 South American Championship and the 2012 South American Championship (they took the Bronze in '12). He was the oldest person to play for Peru in the 2013 Bolivarian Games. He was 1 for 6 with a RBI as the backup right fielder. He was 40 years old by the 2019 Pan American Games. On a team that hit .180/.257/.200, he reached base all three times he came up. Pinch-hitting for Jin Ishihara with a 10-1 deficit in the 9th against the Dominican Republic, he singled off former major leaguer Jhan Mariñez and came around to score. He replaced Andrés Hamamoto at 1B in a loss to Nicaragua and drew a walk from Ernesto Glasgon. In the 7th/8th place game loss to Argentina, he replaced Csaba Rojas at 1B and was plunked by Federico Robles.
