Biographical Information[edit]

Julio Castillo pitched four years in the Chicago Cubs organization.

Castillo was signed by scout Jose Serra in September 2004. He began his pro career with the AZL Cubs in 2005, going 1-1 with a 5.57 ERA. He was atrocious for the same club in 2006 (2-6, 8.73 ERA, 2.21 WHIP), tying for third in the Arizona League in losses. In 2007, he appeared for the AZL Cubs (1-0, 1.89 in 6 G), Boise Hawks (0-4, 5.48 in 7 G) and Peoria Chiefs (7 R, 15 BB in 8 2/3 IP). He opened 2008 with the DSL Cubs 1 (1-0, 0 R in 18 IP) then returned to Peoria (0-2, 2.86 in 6 G). While he was playing for the Chiefs]against the Dayton Dragons on July 24th, 2008, a brawl broke out on the field. He threw a ball at the Dayton dugout, but it missed and instead went into the stands, injuring a fan. He was arrested and charged with assault and served 30 days in jail. He never played in organized baseball again.
