Biographical Information[edit]

Judson Hyames served as head coach at Western Michigan University from 1922 to 1936. He replaced William Spaulding and was replaced by Charlie Maher. He had a 166–62–2 record. Hyames Field, the school's baseball field, is named after him.

Hyames was WMU's athletic director from 1937 until his death in 1949. He was also an assistant football coach at the University of Michigan in 1926, under football coach Fielding H. Yost.

Hyames passed away at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI of a heart attack at age 61. He was elected to the ABCA Hall of Fame in 1966 and the WMU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1974.

He played very briefly for the Wilmington Sailors in 1910, hitting .114 in 35 at-bats.
