American Baseball Coaches Association

The American Baseball Coaches Association was founded in 1945. Its purpose is to promote and improve the game of college baseball. Originally called the American Association of College Baseball Coaches, it changed to its current name in 1981. The group is made up of over 6,200 members from all ranks of amateur baseball, from NCAA Division I all the way to down to youth leagues. The then AACBC held the first College World Series in 1947. They were instrumental in the creation and early years of this now annual event.

In 1950 the association began awarding an All-American Award. It is one of many awards bestowed by the organization. They also have a Hall of Fame, ABCA Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, Lefty Gomez Award, 25 Year Award, Century Victory Award, Lifetime Membership Award, Field Maintenance Award, Meritorious Service and Honor Awards, Conference Champion Awards and the Assistant Coach of the Year Awards.

Each January prior to the start of the collegiate baseball season the ABCA puts on one of the largest baseball tradeshow, clinic and conventions in the country.
