Biographical Information[edit]
Juan Cabreja began his Organized Baseball career as a coach with the DSL Cubs from 2004-2006, then managed a DSL club in 2007-2008. In 2009, he moved up to be manager of the AZL Cubs for three years. He concluded his managing career back in the Dominican Summer League which is detailed below. Cabreja took a one year hiatus from managing in 2013 to serve as the Cubs' Latin America Assistant Field Coordinator. After managing in 2015, he moved stateside for good in 2016 as a coach for the Myrtle Beach Pelicans and then as a hitting coach for the Eugene Emeralds in 2017.
In 2018 the Cubs promoted Cabreja to Major League Staff Assistant, his first job at the major league level. He retained this role through the 2022 season. In 2023 Cabreja moved into a more traditional coaching role as an assistant hitting coach for the Cubs and remained in this position in 2024.
Cabreja also has considerable experience experience coaching in the Dominican League.
