Biographical Information

The son of Larry Doby Johnson, infielder Josh Johnson was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the third round of the 2004 amateur draft.

Johnson became a manager with the GCL Nationals in 2016-2017. In 2018, he was a coach for the San Diego Padres. In 2019, he was a coach with the Hickory Crawdads. He was scheduled to be manager for the Down East Wood Ducks in 2020 before the season was cancelled due to Covid-19. Johnson managed Hickory in 2021. He was then development coach for the Round Rock Express in 2022-2024.
