Biographical Information[edit]

Josh Romanski began his professional career in 2008.

Romanski hit .410 as a high school sophomore and was 7-1 with a 2.10 ERA. As a junior, he went 7-2 with a 2.20 ERA and batted .350. In his senior season, he had a 10-1, 0.42 record and batted .510. That earned him All-State honors. The San Diego Padres chose him in the 15th round of the 2005 amateur draft but he continued on to college.

Going on to the University of San Diego, Romanski was a two-way threat. He hit .287/.378/.414 with 40 runs in 47 games as an OF/DH; on the mound, he was 5-4 with 5 saves and a 4.50 ERA. Collegiate Baseball named him a Freshman All-American and he won the West Coast Conference Freshman of the Year award.

As a sophomore, Josh batted .335/.402/.438 and was 9-1 on the hill with a 3.05 ERA, starting regularly when not playing the field. He was named to the All-WCC team as the utility man and was a second-team All-American according to Collegiate Baseball. Romanski was 6th in the WCC in ERA and 13th in batting average.

That summer, Romanski was on the US national team. He was 0-1 with a 7.71 ERA as their least-effective hurler but led the team in average (.333), outperforming future first-round picks Pedro Alvarez, Brett Wallace, Logan Forsythe, Ryan Flaherty and Justin Smoak. He threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings in the 2007 Pan American Games and was 0 for 2 at the plate. In the 2007 World Port Tournament, he hit .200/.235/.267 and allowed 5 runs in two innings of work.

In his junior year, Romanski hit .324 and was 9-1 with a 4.00 ERA. He was first-team All-WCC and threw a no-hitter against Harvard University. Baseball America and Louisville SLugger named him a third-team All-American. The Milwaukee Brewers picked him in the 4th round of the 2008 amateur draft.

Romanski debuted as a pro with the Helena Brewers on June 27, going 0 for 4. He went 5 for 8 with 3 doubles in his next two games.

Romanski's brother, Jake Romanski, has also played minor league ball.
