Biographical Information[edit]
Josh Mason played for the British national team.
Mason hit .349 as a high school senior. As a college freshman, he batted .256/.318/.394 as a starter in right for Stony Brook. His sophomore year, he moved to pitching and went 3-1 with 3 saves and a 3.23 ERA, while the school went to the 2012 College World Series. Being born in what was then a British territory, he pitched for the British national team in the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. In his lone outing, he relieved Paul Waterman with a 10-3 lead in the bottom of the 7th against the Czech Republic, with the bases loaded and one out. He retired Mike Cervenak (who was otherwise 5-for-6 in the Qualifiers). After a passed ball by Chris Berset make it 10-4, he retired Jakub Malik to end the inning. In the 8th, he retired Petr Čech but walked Matěj Hejma and Martin Veselý. After getting Jan Drábek on a fly, he allowed a run-scoring single to Martin Schneider. Alex Smith relieved at that point.
