Biographical Information

Jose Herrera was sent to the Oakland A's on August 6, 1993 to complete a trade that sent Steve Karsay to the A's and Rickey Henderson to the Toronto Blue Jays on July 31st of that year. He was with the Dominican national team in the 2003 Pan American Games. In 2000, while with the Rochester Red Wings, Herrera defeated winless racehorse Zippy Chippy in a footrace at Frontier Field.

Herrera was hitting coach of the DSL Nationals in 2015-2017.
