Biographical Information[edit]
Steve Karsay originally signed a letter of intent with Louisiana State University prior to being selected 22nd overall drain the 1990 amateur draft and being handed a $325,000 signing bonus by the Toronto Blue Jays. Once in the minors, Karsay appeared in only 5 games (23 innings with an ERA of 0.79) for the St. Catharines Blue Jays in 1990 before being named the New York-Penn League's best pitching prospect.
Karsay announced his retirement in June 2006 after earning a win in his final game for the Oakland Athletics; it was his first big league win since 2002, when he was a member of the New York Yankees.
Karsay was pitching coach of the AZL Indians in 2012, Lake County Captains in 2013, Carolina Mudcats in 2014, Lake County again in 2015, and Columbus Clippers in 2016-2018. In 2019, he got his first major league coaching job as bullpen coach of the Milwaukee Brewers, staying until the end of the 2021 season. In 2013 he also servedas the pitching coach for the Surprise Saguaros of the Arizona Fall League.
In 2024, he was named bullpen coach of the Los Angeles Angels.
