Biographical Information[edit]

Jose Espinal played in the minor leagues, Mexico and Taiwan.

Espinal was signed by the Chicago Cubs and he was 1-4 with a 4.63 ERA for the DSL Cubs/Padres in 1994, fanning 25 in 23 1/3 IP. He was 3-2 with a 1.75 ERA with the GCL Cubs in 1995. He had a 4-1 record with a 2.21 ERA in 1996 in GCL, and he went 10-10 with a 4.92 ERA with the Rockford Cubbies in 1997. Espinal was 10-10 again with a 4.73 ERA for the Daytona Cubs in 1998, and he had a 3-12 record with a 5.54 ERA with the New Britain Rock Cats in 1999 after the Minnesota Twins selected him in waiver. He tied A.J. Burnett for 5th in losses in the Eastern League. He left the Twins in 2000, and he was 8-5 with a 4.13 ERA for the Yuma Bullfrogs.

The Chicago White Sox signed him in 2004, and he had a 3.48 ERA in 42 appearances with the Winston-Salem Warthogs. He then went to Taiwan and signed with the Uni-President Lions in 2005. Espinal was 3-3 with a 3.09 ERA in 2005, then he had a 1-2 record with a 5.13 ERA with the Acereros de Monclova of the Mexican League. After having a 4.44 ERA in 5 games in 2007 with the Long Island Ducks, Espinal returned to Taiwan and signed with the Sinon Bulls. He was 5-5 with a 3.59 ERA in 2008, and his professional career ended after this season.
