Biographical Information[edit]
José Figueroa has pitched for the Puerto Rican national team.
He was 2-5 with a save and a 6.16 ERA as a college freshman and 3-5 with a 5.74 ERA as a sophomore. His 2020 season was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic; he was 0-1 with 6 (1 ER) in 8 1/3 IP. He had a 4-4, 7.17 record in 2021 and 1-4, 4.14 with a save in 2022. He made one appearance for Puerto Rico in the 2024 Premier 12, relieving Rubén Ramírez with a 7-1 deficit and one out in the second against the Netherlands; two men were on. He escaped the inning by retiring Denzel Richardson and Ray-Patrick Didder . The third inning did not go as well. He walked Dwayne Kemp, yielded a Delano Selassa double, retired Didi Gregorius, then allowed a RBI single to Jonathan Schoop. Hendrik Clementina doubled and an error on the play made it 10-2. Sharlon Schoop singled, Juremi Profar had a sac fly and Richardson singled before he again retired Didder to end an inning. Andrés Santiago took over. While Figueroa had a 21.60 ERA, it was the second-best mark among their five pitchers during the 20-8 romp; only Santiago was lower (at 13.50). [1]
