Biographical Information[edit]
Jorge Ariza hit .186/.319/.203 in 21 games for the 2011 VSL Reds, serving as their third-string catcher. In a similar role with the 2012 DSL Reds, he batted .178/.278/.222 in 19 games. Overall, he hit .183/.302/.212 with 11 runs, 5 RBI and 16 walks in 40 games in the Cincinnati Reds farm chain. He had fielded .970 at catcher and threw out 36% of those who tried to steal.
Ariza was 0 for 9 with two walks for the Colombian national team in the 2015 Pan American Games, fielding .963; he split catching duties with Jayson De Aguas. He had helped Colombia qualify by winning the 2015 South American Championship.
