Biographical Information

Pitcher Jordan Pries began his professional career in 2011.

He was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 30th round of the 2011 amateur draft. The scout was Stacey Pettis. In his second professional season, he posted a 2.84 ERA in 10 starts between the AZL Mariners and the Clinton LumberKings, while averaging more than a strikeout per inning. In 2014, he won 10 games and reached Triple-A for the first time. Between the Jackson Generals and Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers that year, he was 10-8 with a 3.86 ERA in 27 games (26 starts). In his first taste of Triple-A, he was 9-8 with a 4.06 ERA in 25 games (24 starts). He spent 2015 with Tacoma where he was 7-4, 5.20 in 16 starts.

He began the 2016 season back in AA with Jackson, where he was 5-2, 5.46 in 13 games (9 starts). He was up with Tacoma briefly in April, and again in July, going 2-1, 3.65 in 7 games. On July 20th, he was traded to the Chicago Cubs along with major league reliever Mike Montgomery in return for prospects Paul Blackburn and Dan Vogelbach.

Pries' great uncle, Don Pries, was a minor league player, minor league manager, and scout. His grandfather, Bud Daley, was a major league pitcher.
