Biographical Information[edit]
Jonny Cordoba is the son of Jhony Cordoba and nephew of Wilfrido Cordoba. Jonny pitched in the New York Yankees chain for a couple years. In 2006, he was with both the DSL Yankees/Padres and DSL Yankees 1, with a combined 3-1, 0.76 record and four saves, with a 0.79 WHIP and 37 K in 35 1/3 IP. Despite that superb work, he returned to the Dominican Summer League in 2007, going 5-2 with 4 saves, a 1.66 ERA and .95 WHIP for the Yankees 1. He struck out 48 in 43 1/3 innings. He thus ended his minor league career with a 1.26 ERA. He was on the Panamanian national team that won the 2009 Bolivarian Games.
