Biographical Information[edit]

Jong-hoon Park was a first-round pick of the SK Wyverns in 2010. He allowed two runs in 6 2/3 IP in the 2011 KBO, with 4 hits, 3 walks and 5 whiffs. In the 2011 Baseball World Cup, he got four starts for the South Korean national team. He allowed two runs in five innings in his first outing, a no-decision against Venezuela. The next time out, he gave up four walks and two unearned runs in 4 2/3 IP in a no-decision versus Nicaragua. Against the Netherlands, he battled Tom Stuifbergen evenly for four scoreless innings before folding, serving up a 2-run dinger to Kalian Sams in the 5th. He took the loss, giving up 3 runs in 5 2/3 IP but fanning 7. In his finale, versus the USA, he gave up two runs in five and struck out eight in another loss. He had a 0-2, 3.32 record for the Cup, with 15 walks and 23 strikeouts in 19 innings. He was second in the Cup in innings pitched (just behind teammate Hyoun-taek Oh), second in strikeouts (11 behind Oh, 2 ahead of #3 Miguel Lahera), led in starts and tied for first in losses.

Park was 1-2 with a 8.00 ERA in eight games for the 2012 Wyverns, with 14 walks and 21 hits allowed in 18 innings.
