Biographical Information[edit]
Jonah Todd played in the minors then was a college coach.
He hit .397 as a high school sophomore, .416 as a junior and .405 as a senior, when he also stole 15 bases and was 9-0 with a 0.25 ERA. It was the third-lowest ERA in Alabama state history. He also scored over 1,500 points in basketball. [1] As a college freshman, he batted .331 at Marion Military Institute then improved to .411 as a sophomore, playing error-free defense in the outfield. He was named the Alabama Community College Conference Defensive Player of the Year. [2] Transferring to Auburn University, he produced at a .376/.460/.471 rate in 2017 with 56 runs in 63 games. He fielded .994. He was second in the Southeastern Conference in average (behind Brent Rooker), tied for third in triples (5), was third with 91 hits (after Rooker and Tristan Pompey), 5th in OBP and 6th in runs. [3]
The Los Angeles Angels took him in the 6th round of the 2017 amateur draft and he signed for a $210,000 bonus. The scout was Chris McAlpin. [4] He split the summer between the Orem Owlz (.306/.440/.429, 25 R, 22 RBI in 22 G) and Burlington Bees (.257/.330/.297 in 44 G). He slumped to .204/.299/.269 for the 2018 Inland Empire 66ers to end his pro career; his seven triples made the top-10 for both the California League and the Angels chain.
Todd was assistant coach at University of Tennessee Southern and Lawson State Community College before returning to Marion Military as head coach in 2024. [5]
